Octavia Grill Removal

Featured Replies

Dear All,

If I don’t sell my Octavia VRS I’m looking to change the colour of my grill from the standard chrome to black.

I’ve bought a can of Plastidip, watched the YouTube video and thought it would be easier to remove the grill.

is there a knack to it’s removal?

Photo attached of current fixings...

Any help greatly appreciated as personally I think a black grill changes the whole appearance of the car.

its my first try with a Plastidip and happy to post before and after photos... if it doesn’t look great just peel it off...😂

Thanks,

Interested to see how this pans out as had my eye on one of the black grills for my FL from SuperSkoda (200 euros)

I did mine with plasti dip. Best £10 I’ve spent.

After removing the screws I had problems removing the plastic clips.

I used a 6mm socket and placed it over the plastic and pushed causing them to pop out.

Hope thats helps. Took me about 5 mins

Hi Beefy,

Have you a photo of the finished grill?

i tried briefly last night to remove it but it wasn’t keen to budge... contemplating buying one on eBay and Plastidip that one...🙄

Thanks

Honestly it’s simple.

Ill post a pick in a bit

I bet it would look great black chromed. Wonder how much that would be. Still a decent spray job then a few coats of lacquer would be pretty close.

Just another observation from your pic, do you need an extra garage or two?

An extra couple of garages or individuals would be great...

Thanks

The clips I used a 6mm socket set and placed it over the clip as you see it. This helps pushing them through

That looks great, you can do mine if you get bored...😂

i must try try and take it off over the weekend, I’m also not sure as to whether to replace it with the new black and chrome badge rather than the original style...

Yeah I was torn but ended up keeping the original.

May replace them in the future.

The plasti dip has been on since February, no signs or wear or chips etc 👍🏻

Can’t say I like the current look😳 although it does show off my new compressor...😂

Just need to buy that replacement badge now...

Just need to get a new badge... not too sure whether to go for the all black or black and chrome...

That looks superb - I think a coloured badge would look good or the new style one. Net job is fogs as DRL's

Thanks, your photo convinced me to try it...

Best thing is that you can just rip it off if you don’t like it...🤓

I’m also thinking the all black may look too much... new style black and chrome I think...

Have you converted the fog lights and has it passed an MOT since?

Glad it’s done and you’re happy with it. Just looks so much better.
