Kessy key activation after battery replacement

Thanks for your reply Kenny R. With the confidence of what to do with your information  I changed the old battery with a new one and guess what? The key worked straight away without anything else having to be done. So it seems that it is only necessary to put a new battery in and that is it.

Unlock it with a key? you got to be joking man, what is this 1985? 

 

I had a key rubber split on the Saab and the remote stopped working - this after about 8-9 years of ownership. I had to use the actual key to open the car for the first time. For a minute the lack of a keyway on the drivers door had me stumped!!

 

The alarm went off too which the handbook says is normal if locked with remote and opened with a key. Key into ignition silenced it. Probably worth using the key now and again as a maintenance tip.
