Compatible parts for a 2006 MK1 Fabia Classic

Featured Replies

My MK1 was hit by a van running a red light and has been written off by the insurance company (Cat N) but I have chosen to retain it plus cash. The damage appears to be limited to the front bumper, nearside front wing and headlight with a small depression on the bonnet corner. I intend to carry out the repairs myself and source second hand replacement parts but I am unsure if there are any compatibility issues with parts from different MK1 year models. I would be very grateful for advice on the issue.

Also, it would be great if I could find a bumper and wing in the same colour as my car which is Cappuccino beige metallic (paint code 9202) so does anyone know of a good place to source the parts preferably near Leeds/Wakefield? Many thanks.

All the mark 1 front ends are the same, your only issue will be the wing since it's almost impossible to remove without damage because it's bonded on below the A pillar.

You'll also have problems finding a suitable donor since the colour was not popular.

I suggest you consider buying a complete car with good bodywork and use yours as the donor rather than the other way around if yours is mechanically sound.

Thanks sepulchrave. I assumed the front wing would be relatively easy to remove. Would removing the damaged wing damage the A pillar and if not, how difficult would it be to fit a new wing rather than a used one? The car is in very good condition otherwise as it has done only 43K. Cheers.

Fitting a new wing is the way forward if you're determined to keep the car, the rest of the panels and parts you need can be secondhand but you'll have to get the entire front end repainted so the colour of the secondhand panels becomes a moot point.

Thanks again sepulchrave. You have given me much to think about as after the insurance pay out I will have over £1000 to play with for the repairs.

A bag of sand should be more than enough to repair the car to a high standard, only the wing replacement and the paintwork need professional intervention, the rest is easy DIY, start by stripping all the damaged parts off the car and sourcing replacements, you can then reassemble it before handing it over for the new wing and paint job.
