Rough cost to get drop link repaired at garage

Featured Replies

Has anyone got a rough idea of how much replacing one drop link should cost, so i don’t get ripped off!

should only take 30 mins max i would say.

Earlier this year in March it cost me £41.67 + v.a.t for 1 drop link fitted.

As others, about 30 minutes per side plus parts.

Drop link on Car parts for less is approx £10 per side. It's an easy fix. Something for a novice to attempt. Takes Son in law about 10minuts per side. Me- I'd need about 10 to get down and15 to gt up aftr approx 5 minutes work.  remove wheel /Jack car up- fit axle stands , Undo nut on each end, remove old drop link and refit new one. put wheel back on, remove axle stands and lower to floor.

I haven’t got the tools to do it, and buying them will probably cost more than the garage will charge me

Quite possibly but on the other hand, the first ones that I had to remove needed cutting off - something to do with geographical location maybe!

If you don't fit Meyle HD ones they will be gone again in no time.

I was getting mine from local motor factor, and they lasted a year and that's taking it very easy over the local tank traps. Both times it's been excessive play in ball joint.

Last time, I worked on the principle that I'd give the cheap ones from Carparts4less a try. ( Starline) . So far the Starline ones have lasted coming up for three years.  Never had a problem taking the old ones out. We thought it might need some persuasion ,so SIL had angle grinder handy, but perhaps it knew when it was beaten . Or perhaps it's the fact that we remove the nuts  before raising the vehicle, and there's some tension on the stub.
