Road trip MPG

Featured Replies

I ticked going over the Stelvio Pass off my bucket list last week in a 2100 mile trip to Northern Italy and back.  As well as enjoying some fab scenery and continental roads that put our's to shame.  I kept a tab on my MPG out of interest.  Five tankfuls, starting here with Momentum 99, two BP Ultimate, one Esso 95 and one Co-op 95.

Eastbourne to Mulhouse (near the Swiss Border), steady 130kph (80mph) - 36.5mpg.

Mulhouse across Switzerland (West to East) at a steady 60mph - 45.6mpg.

Onto the little roads, up over Stelvio and down to Madonna Di Campaglio - 23.5mpg (went way below this on the point, sprint, hairpin, repeat, bits on the Swiss side of Stelvio).

Madonna di Campaglio down to Salo, Lake Garda - 66mpg over about 60 miles.  To be fair it was either on the level or downhill pretty much all the way, but it was still a novelty to see:

Salo to Bergamo and around & about: 32.5mpg.

And we then had an overnight stop in Lucerne, Switzerland, before doing there to the Eurotunnel yesterday (492 miles), keeping up 130kph/80mph wherever possible: 40.8mpg.

Of no particular consequence, but I found it interesting given I struggle to get 30mpg around East Sussex.
