Closed Road Rallying

Featured Replies

As a registered MSUK Marshal & Senior Official living in Scotland, good news to see the Mull & Jim Clark Rallies back again.

I'll be officiating on both, away to help with set-up on Mull in ten days, then again for the Jim Clark.

As I live in Duns, 5 mins walk from the Market Square for the ceremonial start, it's difficult to avoid the event. Most people in the area who know I'm actively involved in rallying are very pleased to see the event back, albeit not the usual time of year & a shortened route. However, let's get going again & I believe that next year's JCR is back in it's traditional May Bank Holiday slot, so lots of work to start immediately we've been de-briefed after November.

Entries went live yesterday evening & there are already around 100 confirmed,

When entries for Mull went live, site crashed briefly & the list was full & over-subscribed within an hour, such was the demand.

If you're interested in rallying, both of these events are well worth a trip, but it's very difficult to get a Calmac booking to & from Oban so the other option is Corran Ferry, over Morvern to Lochaline & Fishnish.

Duns, however is a wee bit easier to access. The world famous Langton stage is back on the menu & I understand that the tracks through the fileds to the carpark at Langton Ford are in need of some maintenance, not being used for some time, hopefully that'll be sorted. Cars will be using Langton as SS2 & SS3, starting at 30 sec intervals, so non-stop action all afternoon & it may run into darkness, even more of a spectacle.

Start time from Duns Market Square is 1500, all stage details on the event website. I'll be out & about as Deputy Stage Commander on SS 1 4 & 6, Abbey St Bathans, so may see some of you around. Look out for a Meteor Grey Kodiaq on a personal plate & give me a toot if you see me.
