Raised boot floor query.

Hello all, I need to get a raised boot floor for my Yeti.  This is so that I can more easily load a heavy manual wheelchair into the boot. The main problem is one of description; is it a Raised Boot Floor or a Mid-boot floor?  The primary need is to get the floor level nearer in height to the rear door striker panel and do away with such a drop which makes unloading very much harder.  The primary need for this is that I'm on Chemo and this session has robbed me of strength which is quite alarming. 

Obviously, with more underfloor space I shall be able to consider a spare wheel kit as well.

Another line of thought is to have a chair hoist fitted which is electrically powered but initial cost is a bit eye watering!

The local dealer suggests that the part number is DAA630001 but Skoda-Parts at Plzeň, CZ show this:  mid-floor for the luggage compartment, intended for vehicles without the capacity for a spare wheel, load capacity: 75kg

Hi Clive.  I have a 2012 Yeti with a standard factory fit spare wheel.  The boot floor sits only about an inch lower than the top of the moulding in which the tailgate striker panel sits, in other words almost flush.  The floor is made of thin MDF or somesuch, with a thin carpet on top.  The floor is supported by the central spare wheel, plus a series of moulded trays underneath which sit either side of the spare wheel.  These trays are made of some sort of rigid foam plastic. The jack and toolkit live under the spare wheel in another moulding made of the same stuff. 

 

I wonder if a car breaker would be able to supply you with all of this from a front-damaged vehicle ?

If you can get the kit for the adjustable boot floor you can adjust the floor height to be more or less level with the tailgate opening. You can also then simply revert to full depth boot or half & half if you wish. 

In your situation forget the spare wheel, it's heavy and awkward to lift out and changing a wheel would be hard work and very dangerous by the side of a road. People get killed by passing traffic trying to change wheels, don't do it!

Have a ferret around the Octavis mk2 forum - there was a chap from Morecambe (I think) way who was doing a boot conversion to take a powered wheelchair/ scooter.  Posts are within the last 6 months or so.

Thanks for your responses.  Expatman, I totally agree about the problem of changing a wheel at the roadside. Not a good working environment!

If you have anyone that can help you with a DIY fitment then you might consider what i am doing.

 

I had already converted a manufacturers raised floor from a MK1 Octavia (loads in breakers) to the MK2, the width and length were the same, it just needed the rear profile trimming and the side supports raising at the front.

 

Now I have a Yeti I did some measuring up and found the width is identical and if only 2 out 3 of the sections are used then its the exact length, the rear profile looks very close and I intend using the stock side rails cut to length with the depth extended, Ihavn't started yet but it should be a quick simple job and look stock when finished plus give the flexibility of the standard vario floor where you can fold back just one section and the rear section is retained by the Dzus fasteners in case of a roll over heaven forbid.

I have had the spare wheel option and the raised floor on my 3 Yetis. I bought it with my original Yeti and swapped it to each one in turn, 5 minute job no toole required. You might find a friendly dealer who has a used Yeti in stock with one fitted who would be willing to swap. Remember it wasn't original equipment so it won't make any difference to the donor vehicle.
