Tailgate not opening

Featured Replies

Hi guys got a problem with my tailgate which will not open with the key fob and as it also has a blanking plate over the lock on the outside I can’t open it with the key, I have taken the rear panel off and tried a new acuator which seemed fine but it’s still not working seems like there is no power getting to the parts that require it ,I think I remember reading somewhere about a wiring problem where it goes between the tailgate and the body due to friction but cannot find any reference to it,does anyone know how to test The connections, I don’t have a multimeter just a test lamp thanks paul

Forgot to mention it’s a 02 1.8 t 4x4 estate sorry

Cables comes from the body to the tailgate beside one of the hinges (drivers side iirc). Theres a connector block under the headlining.

Corrosion in the plug or frayed wires inside the rubber tube the cable passes through are your best bet for an problem
