Adaptive Cruise Control - Speed Adjustment

Featured Replies

Hi All, another query regarding the adaptive cruise control.

The manual states that the set button on the end of the stalk should adjust the set speed in increments of 1 kpm/mph which would be pretty standard for cruise control. However, mine doesn't work this way for acceleration.

If it was set to, say, 60mph and I press the down button, the set speed decreases to 59 mph. However, if I press the up button, the speed also decreases. Sometimes it will be by 1 mph, other times by as much as 20 mph. I also have traffic sign recognition and I thought it had something to do with that. The reason I say that is when the big jump down happened recently, I was just coming out of a 50mph to 70mph so whilst I was accelerating to 70mph, I technically hadn't passed the national speed limit sign so the traffic sign recognition was still showing 50mph. I seem to recall seeing a setting which linked the two, but I can't find that anywhere. I have also been through the manual and there seems to be nothing in there suggesting that the cruise and traffic sign recognition can be linked. That being said, the jump down has apparently been completely random on other occasions!

I did also consider whether the stalk was faulty so I tried it with the speed limiter and the set button seems to work as planned (i.e. up and down in increments of 1 mph).

Does anybody know if the traffic sign recognition and ACC can be linked and if this is the problem, or did I imagine that? If they can't be linked, any ideas on what else it could be?

No, they are not linked.

Actions:

SET button decreases by 1

stalk pull increases by 1

stalk up increases by 10

stalk down decreases by 10

You're right!

I thought (assumed) that the set switch was a rocker (I'm sure that's what it was on my old VW a few years back) and that's what I was trying to do, but apparently not. Seems a bit counter intuitive, but there we go. I'll just have to get used to it!

Cheers.
