Intermittent error code P0705

Featured Replies

The error code P0705 occurs intermittently on my 2005 6y5 automatic. Also the reversing lights and reversing sensors don’t work. Otherwise car drives normally. . Any suggestions welcome please.

You should start by checking the wiring to the transmission sensor which tells the ECU when you've selected reverse.

Thanks for that. Have identified the switch operated by the gear selection. Will check it out and let you know.

Have found the auto gearbox switch unserviceable. Have replaced with new item from main dealer(only 1 on line in Latvia) cost approx £120. Reversing sensors and reversing light now work as does the blower going into recirculation when reversing.

As a matter of interest I had previously had a problem with the car not starting on the key. Another mechanic told me it was a relay fault behind the facia so I took the easy way out and tapped into the starter solenoid power supply and installed a sprung switch and a fuse direct from the battery. Now this is not needed as all along it was the interrupter switch that was the fault. All now working. Happy Days
