help with sat-nav on 2016 plate vrs

Featured Replies

quick question is there any thing I can do with the radio in my 2016 Skoda Octavia vrs

the SAT-NAVs are not that good in my eyes doesn't matter what address you put in it cannot find it or takes forever to put the address in

I had a Columbus in my 2010 vrs model and had no problems at all,

I upgraded my car but the standard sat-nav  in them does not work that well  ..

now no matter were I drive and push the take me home button .. I have no problems so it cannot be the Arial

is there a upgrade to these radios or can you advise on a new radio please that I will be able to do a straight swop with  ...

You can upgrade the radio but it’s a massive amount of work for a sat nav that is ultimately the same but has a 3D map. Check your map is up to date and be aware that the postcode must be entered after pressing the ptcd. button. Otherwise use the SmartLink with Google Maps or Waze. If that’s not active it’s £137 at the dealer to have it done and there isn’t a way around that. The cost of activation through unofficial means is just as expensive.

THANK YOU  SashaGrace For the reply it already has 3D Maps and the maps were sorted out by the dealer ship so was thinking .. this was ok

also thought the Arial is ok. there is a lad on here (rustynut top bloke by the way) who repairs and upgrades radios he could not advise me..

As for Smart-link not sure how to use that when I have tried it, I could not connect to anything ?

how do I use that … I am at work now and will not be able to try anything for 1 week but any advice I can try would be nice... thanks lee

ps. I even have a Skoda app I've downloaded thinking it will connect to the car but using my vin .. this does not work so I gave up on the smart link

It has 2.5D maps, the Columbus has actual 3D maps with animated landmark buildings as below, it’s about the only real difference between the two.

What phone do you have and is SmartLink active? If it isn’t it’ll ask you to contact the dealer for an activation code. It’s really worth it and would solve your navigation problem and more. If you have an Android phone and you want to use Android Auto you need to download the Android Auto app from the Play Store.
