Dsg gearbox

Featured Replies

I have a 1.2 skoda yeti DSG 2014, 38000 miles, when accelerating at 20000 revs the car gearbox jumps/jolt, it seems to change up at this rev through each gear. If I drive carefully it doesn’t happen but only if I’m going up hill and gears need to change up noticebly in 4th 5th .Any suggestions welcolme

Wecome.

Not much to say if the servicing of the engine is correct, and if Service Campaign '34H5' (software update) was carried out on your DSG is needed and not if not.

You can use the DSG manually to see how things are in those circumstances or in 'S' and see if that is any better, or just drive in a way it is not an issue.

Serviced just had Major  the problems is worse now , no fault codes, manually again tug under load, plugs weren’t changed at service, otherwise all new filters etc

?

Were the Spark Plugs taken out and checked, the Manufacturers recomendation is at the 2nd Major service, so at 4 years.

Or 40,000 miles, so when are they getting changed.

?

Did you pay for a Major Service at a Main Dealer, and yet the plugs were not changed?

If you have a car serviced and it runs worse after than when driven in for the service get the place serviced to find out what they did wrong,

and ask 'Was a software update done and you never told me?'

Also ask, 'did you charge me for a Major Service and not supply and fits due at the service like new Spark Plugs?'

The service was carried out by Skoda/vw experts not skoda themselves. They didn’t change plugs but did diagnostics which showed no issues also they don’t change plugs unnecessarily . Today taken car to skoda main dealer for gearbox diagnostics, turns out start of clutch slip so new clutch pack, just under £2k. Hard driven in manual showed increased judders/jolts. Plus £100 to diagnose. Crazy at 38k miles never had a clutch go in 49yrs of driving. Anyway get it sorted and hopefully job done for another year, will trade in next year if the trade in values stay up.

?

What is the reason for the issue bothering you after the service and not before?

You do not have to wait until there are fault codes for Misfires until you change spark plugs, you can look at them see the condition and check the gap,

and since they are out and there is a recommened service schedule change the plugs.

But then they are the Skoda / VW Experts.

Best see another Independent DSG Expert and get the Clutch Packs replaced at the not Main Dealer cost.

If it is clutch packs that are required on a 38,000 mile DQ200 DSG.

What about Service Campaign 34h5, is your car not one that should have it, or has had it?

From 2014/15 on there has been this issue, as Skoda / VW eventually accepted.

This also had a software update.

Got independent dsg  quote and it was £100 cheaper, but a bit of a drive away waiting for skoda customer services to get back about goodwill gesture but not holding out. .cheers for your input. Will let skoda do the work and wait and see.

I would be holding out if you have a Full Main Dealer Service history  up to now and due to the early demise of the Clutch Packs at 5 years / 38,000 miles.

The issue as Skoda UK / CZ know is one concerning the components and software,

It is actually an issue that needs their attention and being out of the Manufacturers Warranty does not clear them.

Known issues, and they are the ones that know,

Final solution . I used transmissions experts who road tested and identified 3cylinder misfire at 2000 revs which was at time of tugging. 4 plugs, 4 leads 1 coil pack and problem solved fir £300. Skoda wanted £1900 for clutch pack which was unnecessary and would not have resolved problem!!

Could that be one of the cars affected by # 3 plug lead problems that were replaced under warranty?

Not as far as I know, I had it at 3yrs old from skoda dealer, always serviced by them until this last mess. No mention of problem ever

No mention of the problem to many other owners that had FMDSH.

Sometimes you are not told because they do not bother to know about TPI's.

Buy 2014 there should not have been issues, but there were ones that did have.

Just been quoted £1000 labour only for fitting and setting up our 1.2 clutch.

Anyone know how many hours it should be ? Car is running ok- just very now and again it snatches.

Mine snatched at 2000 revs in any gear mainly under load, skodaquoted £1900 for  clutch took it to transmission specialists in wiltshire, they checked it and said, coil pack, leads and plugs £300.

all done and no snatching now, Skoda refuse to acknowledge saying their diagnostics was clutch and they stand by that, they refute the ht leads was the issue, but the indecent gearbox specialists drove it connected and at 2000 revs showed 3 cylinder misfire, but nothing when fat downloaded and examined, the car isa petrol 1.2, 38000 mls, 5 yr old.  Anyway had it been clutch pack skoda was 2 days, the company in wiltshire was not much cheaper. It’s not the clutch in and out but setting up the shimming on vernier to make sure it’s okay is the time involved. Good luck

Ok. So if its 2 full days that could be 14 hours which roughly fits with the £1000 I was quoted divided by the hourly rate. Crikey, more than I expected. HT leads were done at Skoda before I bought it, so I will see when it gets any worse - 99% of the time its fine.

So was mine but the tug happened only at the 2000 revs mark. Every garage I spoke with post skoda diagnosis didn’t believe a clutch pack at the mileage and year.

If a new clutch pack is required then Milta Technology, gearbox specialist may be a cheaper option. they are in Bristol.

I read about them here but have not used them.

Read about them aren’t the the old bristol gearbox company, they diagnosed clutch pack and mechatronics without ever seeing my car, subject to diagnostics visit. Prices were cheaper. I asked TES transmissions in westbury wilts who diagnosed misfire not dsg problem.not sure where you are.
