New owner!

Featured Replies

Well, new owner since July anyway of a grey Sportline+ estate 1.5 tsi. I ordered this a while ago as my company car and as an interim car I was given a Mercedes C class hybrid for a while. I was worried that after the merc the superb would be a little underwhelming but I couldn't have been more wrong. Although the Skoda doesn't have the straight line speed of the Merc, it handles loads better. Over all I'm very impressed with it so far with the way it look and drives and obviously the space inside is great. Economy wise I've been getting around 35 mpg into the city I work in and around 45 on the motorway, I assume this will get slightly better as the engine loosens up? only done 3000 miles so far.

A couple of things, the electronic opening and closing of the boot sometimes won't close from the inside or from the key fob and other times it does it. Just a minor annoyance but would like to know why. Could definitely use some tips on keeping the centre console and infotainment screen clean.

I don't think it's supposed to close from the button inside the car.........it doesn't on the 2016 anyway.

Must have imagined it from the inside then but definitely the key can close it but sometimes it won't

To close the boot from the inside, you need to pull and hold the button...

Is that something new on the MY20 Superb or are you referring to the Kodiaq?

I assumed it would be the same, however after checking the latest Superb manual it doesn't look to be.

I wonder why they prevent the closing of the boot using the internal button on the Superb? Weird...

Weird indeed that Superb doesn't have this button on the door.

Hmm, I wonder if it could b retrofitted?

Mines on the centre console. It obviously opens the boot but I'll check again tomorrow to see if it closes it

Unless something has changed then it won't close the boot but it can be enabled using VAG Can PRO.

No you're right it won't. It will from the key fob but doesn't seem to want to when I'm in the car. Is there a thread on how to do this with VAG Can PRO?

Some clarification as to what seems as intermittent closing from the key fob: The button on the key fob can indeed close the boot on MY19+ if held pressed but only if you're standing behind the boot or further backwards (not tested how far back but within a metre behind the boot it still worked I think). Move forward towards the B-pillar though and it won't work, maybe that's what the OP experienced, which would indeed seem strange if you're not aware of this positional limitation (my dealer explained this to me on delivery day).

The proximity to the boot lid to be able to close it using the remote is the same on our Kodiaq, I think the idea is you're less likely to close it on someones head the closer you are.

It kind of defeats the object though, the boot has a similar anti-trap feature as the windows, an audible alarm sounds when using the remote to warn miscreants, and since you're that close anyway, you may as well just use the button on the boot lid itself!

Strange how Skoda allow the closing of the boot from the drivers seat using the button on the drivers door on the Kodiaq, where as on the Superb they don't. I wonder if this is because the button is on the central console, and therefore more likely to be pressed by a less responsible passenger than the driver?

That makes sense now, thanks for clarifying. This wasn't explained when the car was handed over to me

Step One:  Go to Tesco or similar and buy a cheap pack of Microfibre cloths :

Tesco Microfibre Cloth 4 Pack

Step Two:  Pick one colour, fold it neatly and store in the overhead sunglasses locker.

Fits just right and stays in place when you open the locker.

Step Three:  Threaten your family with death if they dare use it for anything else, and immediately return it to the handy locker as soon as you've used it.

Step Four:  a quick wipe will clear all fingerprints from the shiny parts of the console.

Use the other colours for tasks such as cleaning the dashboard, wiping the windscreen, or dropping on the floor.  Just keep them separate!  You can probably fit a pair of sunglasses into the locker at the same time, and it will stop them rattling.

My sunglasses sit on a folded microfibre cloth in the said place.  Put them in the way they are shown in the photo and they will fall out when it is opened.  The Octavia's was a better shape.

Lens down, on the cloth.  Easy to swop with my normal glasses - when stationary of course . . . .

You can close the boot by double clicking the boot opener on the key fob. But you have to hold it down on the second press. That works inside or outside the car and you don't have to be behind the car. The only caveat is the ignition must not be on.

that is correct, but its not handy having to switch the engine off in order to close the boot!!!

This doesn't seem to work on mine. Mines keyless so wonder if it's anything to do with that?

Mine is Kessy too. It works for me but as ever with VAG cars it may be different on newer models.

My car (KESSY too) is 3 months old and it works for me.
