1.4TSI Clutch feel

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm looking for some feedback from Octavia ownrs in general but also specifically 1.4TSI owners.

I drive one last week and found it to have a light clutch with long throw and a high bite point. Is this typical for these cars or maybe a sign of an issue? It did drive well through all gears.

Is this something that can be adjusted?

Thanks,

Lee

We have just bought a VW Beetle with the 1.4 TSI (2015 so not the twin charger). I find the clutch exactly how you describe, only this one seems to be inconsistent with the bite point.

Not sure on the adjustment.

My 1.4TSI Elegance has had a clutch as you describe (light, long throw & high biting point) since I bought it in 2016.

My 1.6 CR TDI also has the long throw / high bite point, annoyingly enough the "assisted revs" only stops when the clutch pedal is right at the floor. Have got used to it now!

I've never noticed mine being unusual in feel or operation- previous car was a 2l Octavia Mk2 diesel . I have size 12 shoes though. However after driving a Hyundai Getz 1.4 or  Kia Picanto3 it feels heavier until I get used to it again.

Thanks for all of the replies. Glad to hear others have similar clutch feel. I drive a variety of different pool cars at work so used to different clutches it just caught me by surprise as its quite unusual with such a long throw.
