Could someone recommend a good UK-based Audi user group? I've done some Googling but those I have found seem to be mainly for the US. Is there anything like Briskoda (I know it couldn't possibly be as good:D )

I was captivated by the A3 as well, until I realised they were all less well equipped, more expensive and slower than the equivalent Octavia.

It all depends what you are looking for, of course. I'm comparing the A3 with the Fabia, not the Octy. The A3 Sportback is a 5 door car almost the same size and shape as the Fabia estate but with a longer wheelbase, and that format suits me fine.

As for equipment, the SE spec A3 has everything that the Fabia or Octavia has, in available with DSG, and is far better built - just sit in a new one. With the new Audi front, and the right alloys it looks fantastic.

Yes it's expensive. No denying that. I'd like to hear from some owners to see if they think it's worth it.

I agree it's a fine looking machine - they had an ad campaign last year advertising the new Sportback from £15,000 - but that was the poverty spec 1.6. By the time you got a decent engine and creature comforts it was silly money. Don't agree the build quality (of Audis generally) is any better than the new Octavia (I have a TT and my wife has a new shape A4). I guess you're not considering the new Golf ?

Yes I certainly am considering the new Golf, had a test drive and talked to a few owners. But the A3 Sportback. like the Fabia estate(that I have now), has a bigger boot without being a much longer car. I really need that little bit extra space to carry my work gear.

Have had a drive in a new Octavia and I like it but it's not so easy to slot in around town and is also too long for my garage!
