Dash light problem

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

Fabia MK2

Got an issue. The background dash light, the radio buttons and climate buttons are not lighting up anymore when I turn the headlights on. I checked the fuse and it looked fine, even replaced it just in case and nothing. I did some reading and some suggest it might be linked to a sidelight blowing out. Mine are all fine.

Any suggestions anyone please?

P.s. I don't have a dimming option on my car.

What year is the car and what fuse did you check ?

Check / replace fuse 22 and 23.

It's a 2013 and I changed 9 and 22.

23 is the interior lighting which are all lit up

Everything works on it apart for those lights

There was an issue with some people having interior lighting go funny due to cleaning the dash, whilst having the electrics on. It produced an electric-static issue. The solution here was to disconnect the battery for a few mins.

That was the simple issue, another was the whole dash pod needed renewal/replacement/repair to the electronics, sometimes easy sometimes not.

Try the battery trick first, you never know.  It will mean you need to re-set the windows but thats a small job, done in two mins. The audio will not lose its coding.

As for dimming, Skoda conveniently forgot to add it! They're all like that!

I fixed it.

In an attempt of desperation I started to turn the sidelights on and off like an imbecile. I did it like 20 times and all of a sudden it lit up. There you go

Corroded contacts in the switch?

I don't really know

Sounds like it must have been a bad contact... just as well though, you didn't blow the fuse whilst doing it as that would have thrown more confusion in to the mix!  😮

Great to hear its all now fine and I guess if you have the issue again, you have a starting point!
