Motability, the car scheme for disabled people, has presented Skoda with its prestigious New to Scheme Manufacturer award, overcoming stiff competition from manufacturers including BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

Motability, which manages a fleet of more than 423,000 vehicles, hosted the inaugural Motability Supplier Awards to recognise companies that have delivered excellence, scheme growth and high performance.

Skoda walked away with the award in the New to Scheme Manufacturer Category, in recognition of its sales performance in 2005 during which the brand achieved a 23.9% increase in fleet sales in a market up just 9.7%, and a total sales volume of 14,555 - a significant increase on 10,030 in 2004.
