I am convinced this is an Apple issue. Our MY18 was fine until the wife updated her iPhone with the latest iOS late last year, from which point the volume issue appeared.

totally agree, same **** has been going on here.

Only thing that helps a bit is to turn off the 'change with buttons' settings in Sounds & Haptics.

Another thing that slightly helps is to play music via carplay. I know it's a sad and bull**** thing to do... but it helps.

Absolutely an Apple related problem as I first encountered it in a 2019 Skoda Kodiaq and now have the same problem in a 2020 VW Golf.

But is VW and skoda using the same infortainment system?

Yes. But not everyone has this problem, even with the same phone/os and same carsystem.

VW, SKODA and SEAT are all using the same system.

Okay - I've been having the same issue; I think the firmware on the MI2 system maybe slightly buggy, but in essence, irratic volume changes does seem to be a thing.  I also have a Samsung Note 9.  Oddly enough, I find it is more of a problem when playing music via Bluetooth and changing track - and sudden low bursts of music.  I suspect this is down to a mismatch of volume profiles.  Typically it is a case of determining which volume you increase....the phone or the media system....the two are not interconnected.  If there are high bursts of volume, try reducing the volume on the phone down to 3/4 as opposed to maximum.  As far as I can see, the MI/MI2 system is trying to regulate volume when playing and when you ask it to skip track or do anything else, it cannot regulate the volume and plays it full bore for second....

It doesn't help with things like "Dolby Atmos" or "Samsung Audio Profiles" that seem to artifically boost the audio levels from the phone's perspective and then you are asking the MI system to try and sort out the audio levels at the other end.

An extreme example of audio dropping out on Bluetooth - if the phone volume is too loud and the MI system is experiencing "digital crunching" - which sounds like a momentary 'click' or drop of volume.     Technically, what you are experiencing is too many digital sampling and corruption on the BT audio stream.  Bandwidth is terribly low on BT (and only improved on BT version 4 and above), so over-egging the audio levels is going to lead to trouble.

Are tou sure SEAT uses this system? Looks totally different.

For me it’s not the volume changing whilst listening to music but when I leave the car the volume on my phone being left on max as opposed to being on 1/4 where I normally keep it.
