Hopefully new Octavia owner

Featured Replies

Hopefully this week I will be ordering a new Octavia 1.0 SE Technology hatch.

Lurking here to get useful info and check for common issues (fortunately there appear to be very few).

Hopefully will post more when I get my car.

I have had one for just on a year now and I love her. For such a small engine the car goes like the clappers. I moved down from a 2.2 HDi diesel and can honestly say I rarely ever notice I am driving a car with +50% less engine capacity. Keeping her in performance mode I still get 60mph on a long run easily. The small issues I have had is the stop start can be a bit flakey on occasion. You think you are pulling away only to see the dash message of "restart car manually." The collision detection has kicked ina  few times while parking at low speeds nearly giving me whiplash. Other than that she is great. I have another year on the lease and will probably look at another Skoda with this engine at the end of the lease,

Thanks for the positive review.

I did think you got mode select on the 1.0 or is yours a DSG?  Shame about the VAG over sensitive collision detection.  I've run a Kia Niro for 2 years and 30000 miles and had collision alerts a few times, but it has never kicked in on any type of driving. Are you meaning the parking sensor braking or the front assist emergency braking?

If all the paperwork goes through I should have my car in a couple of weeks as it is at at the port in Grimsby currently. Not sure about Energy Blue, but it was the only one the dealer had physically here and also any other colour would add about £20 a month to the lease.  As the car was bought primarily as a cost saving exercise, paying extra for a colour was not an option & it's not as though I'm going to have resale issues with it.
