New Owner with an issue :-(

Featured Replies

HI all,

I recently purchased a 2007 vrs Fabia 1.9 Diesel. Noticed a small hesitation which I believe is the common stutter issue. However I am more concerned with the idle on the car.

When started from cold it Idles at around 1500rpm for a good couple of minutes. When driving for a while it occasionally settles to 900rpm but most of the time at around 1100rpm.

Have searched and not heard of this High Idle issue. Also the EML has come on and showing a fault code of P3103 Motors for intake motor flap V157

Any help / pointers in the right direction much appreciated.

Raef.

p.s. other than the above issues the car drives and goes pretty well.

It's possible the ASV is not opening fully, unlike a petrol engine a slight restriction in airflow will raise RPM off boost.

I think I will try take off the EGR and the IMF and give them both a clean and see how it goes from there. On a side note I noticed some posts mentioning the 9mm EGR gaskets are no longer available from the main dealers ;-(

Some go-faster places on eBay are selling blanking gaskets. You'd have to drill a hole. 9mm will throw an EML. 11-12mm seems the sweet spot.

Thanks - ordered from dealers and they supplied one with a 35mm hole (the standard one) and hadn't heard of a 9mm one so going to just buy one of eBay and drill as suggested.

Also had  quick look and it seems the car is fitted with a fairly new EGR so not sure whats causing the High revs

The elephant in the room here is the fault code, either there's a wiring loom fault or the throttle body is faulty. Mucking about with EGR gaskets will not cure that problem.

Yes it was the gasket I was hoping to sort the stutter issue but the High revving and EML light issue I will have to leave to a mechanic as I'm not that mechanically minded

If you fix the big issue you may find it doesn't stutter any more!

Fair point ;-)

Ummmm I think the 35mm one is for a different joint. ISTR standard was 14.5mm. 9mm was available but would throw an EML after a while. 11-12mm hole reduced the judder substantially without throwing the EML on.

I just used the part no provided all over the net. Anyway ordered a black one of eBay and going to get that drilled out to 11mm and see, The revving at 1500rpm has me stumped tho..!

Ours does the same high revving on startup and sometimes when throttling off. Just gently lift the accelerator pedal with your foot and see if it makes a difference. It's what causes ours, sticking pedal.

For 2007-ish there was a throttle pedal recall?

Not heard of that to be honest.

Well the High revving was indeed the pedal. As soon as its lifted the revs drop.

Had a go taking off the EGR with a friend and it was quite messy inside with soot. However the inlet was also quite a bit lucky on the inside also. Was wondering if it was a DIY job to remove the inlet / intake (I think its called?) Is there a how to ?

Also the EGR was a PITA to remove..!

*Mucky
