Skoda Octavia starting issues

Featured Replies

Hello guys looking for some advice . My 2006 Skoda Octavia 1.9 tdi has a 1 to 2 second delay before it fires up.

So basically switch ignition on turn key turns over for a second then nothing for a second and then comes to life and fires up.

Just getting worried as frosty mornings are coming in now in the UK.

It's had a new gearbox . Clutch and timing belt in last 12 months. Bought it off a local guy

Do you wait for the glowplug light to go out before cranking?

Check the supply at the glow plugs. The relay that gives power may have failed.

Check the glow plugs are actually working. They don't last forever.

Having said that, you don't  need to wait for the glow plugs to heat up if the air is above a certain temperature. In my part of the U.K. we are just on the cusp.
