2016 octavia scout

Featured Replies

Looking for some advice please.

on Saturday my octavia scout was in for it’s 3rd service, ŠKODA said the filtration bag had burst in the header tank contaminating the coolant system, they have quoted me £1957 including vat, the car has only covered 33000 miles with full ŠKODA history and it’s been out of warranty 5 month

Sadly this is a known problem.  I was originally quoted around the same price when mine burst.  With a lot of whinging I managed to get the dealer to drop the price to less than £1K, but even at that, it was a bit much, considering the car had only been serviced at the dealers all its life.

I'd go back to the dealer and see if you can work some sort of deal with them - you want at least 50% off the bill.

How old was your car and mileage when the problem arose please

Am considering removing the bag from my coolant header tank after these reports, and just replacing the coolant more often.

Any thoughts?

If ŠKODA know about this problem why don’t they recommend getting header tank changed

Part of the £1957 includes a new header tank - I'm sure @oldgroaner has had a word in the earholes of ŠKODA UK regarding this, I have also whinged, but via the dealer.

Shout, scream if you have to.

No way would I be paying for this myself.

Update from ŠKODA Darlington, sorry sir we are not able to help, so they advised me to call ŠKODA UK who have raised a case and said I should hear back in 48 working hours but could not promise anything.
