Question about VRS comfort control module regarding central locking

Hi folks. Basicly I had to change the comfort control module in my 2003 VRS. We'll when I say had to change I bought a used 1 of ebay, plugged it in and the central locking won't work with the key so question is does it need the key coded in? I'm using my old 1 still due to this the reason Im changing it is bcoz it had a small sticky relay in the board and n/s indicator stays on a solid Amber light antil I flick the relay with my finger lol.
