Clutch fluid leak

Featured Replies

Hi all

Me mate has a 59 plate octi the problem is the clutch is keeping on leaking he has changed all usual things as in.

Clutch slave cylinder

New clutch hose

New seals.

It's been constantly leaking from around the slave cylinder on the box we have done a pressure test no leaks pressed the peddle god knows how many times no leaks.

But when driven it seems to leak all over.

Has anyone experienced this problem before thanks

Replace the slave cylinder again. I've never had great success with replacing seals etc - usually some problem with the cylinder bores.

Was it a new clutch slave cylinder replacement?

I once had a spectacular brake failure a while after I had replaced a seal on the rear brake calliper on a Ford Zodiac MKIV 3.0, made much worse by the fact it was a single circuit braking system! It chose approaching traffic lights down a steep hill, onto a very busy road to fail (100% brake failure) - Fortunately it had a powerful engine and apart from nearly destroying the gearbox/clutch/tyres managed to engage reverse on the move, drop the clutch and spin the wheels backwards to bring it to a sort of a stop  - followed by a change of underwear!
