A wire (or two) has broken usually.  One of two thin ones that come from the alternator. They have a plug and socket junction at a bracket on the front of the gearbox. This is almost always where the wires break. Repair the breakages and the fault will be fixed.

On the alternator side of the connector pair they are brown and blue, on the other side the brown one becomes green/violet, the blue one continues as a blue.

Apart from the 01117 fault code coming up on that scan, is the car having any problems?

Check battery voltage (at the battery terminals) before and after starting the engine.

Do you know how old the battery is?

Does the battery light come on when you turn on the ignition (before starting engine)? It should do.

No battery light show in cluster, battery show 12v, when starts engine it's showing 10.5

Check those wires again.

Some pictures here of where to look, in case I didn't make it clear before:

Or the blue wire is broken (as well as the other one which is giving you that fault code). That can result in the alternator not starting up correctly.

It's very, very common on mk1 Fabias.

Oh, those brushes do look well worn. What do they measure in mm? How many miles has the car covered?

  • Author

Yes brushes not very good, one long second short.

Mileage is 130000 miles done 1.2 petrol

^ Might want to waterproof those connections with self-amalgamating tape or something.
