so, if the DPF is wrapped in a heat wrap, will it get hotter and burn more soot during a regen? 

On an active regen it won't, as the whole point is that all of the particulates are burnt off anyway, put passively, if it helps keep the temperature up higher than it would normally then yes it might help but I doubt it would be worth doing.
