Speaker mounting - Drivers side bracket significantly closer than passenger side

Featured Replies

Is it normal that the drivers door metal bracket behind where the speaker goes is much closer to the door carrier on the drivers side than the passenger side? I mounted 65mm mounting depth speaker on passenger side without much trouble (but very tight fit).

On drivers side there's no way it will fit, speaker touches the bracket with the same rings as used on other side, if I add enough space to clear the bracket, the door card wont clear the speaker.

I'm assuming I can't just push and bend the bracket slightly backwards as I'm tempted to, would end up doing something to window?

Anyone in the market for a pair of Hertz speakers?? 😖

65mm is a little deep... The bracket is the electric window guide/rail. They should be mirror image but I guess there are tolerances.

You could cut the door card away and add mesh and speaker cloth covers. Integrating them to the door card without it looking crap is going to be the challenge.

Yeah it’s so strange, considerably closer drivers side, passenger rail looks almost bent out by comparison.

Think cutting the door will look awful if I do it. Tried stock speakers with amp and they are not actually bad should probably have just gone with that.

Will see what I can get for these and try to replace with shallow mount ones.
