OBD 2?

Featured Replies

Advice needed.

I bought a Bluetooth OBD 2 thingy, it connects to my phone using an app called Torque pro.

I can't can't get the thingy to talk to the car's computer.

The thingy plugs in the OBD2 socket and uses a language/protocol called elm327.

Is it possible that the car isn't OBD2 compatible despite having the same socket?

I have an ELM327 bluetooth dongle and torque pro and it works fine on my FL mk2, and on my previous 09 insignia.

What is your car spec?

Its possible but i wouldve thought unlikely the dongle is canbus compatible but not oldrr version? Hex-can iirc? Might be a setting thing on torque pro?

works perfectly on my 2004 1.9 1U5

The car is a 2000 1.8t 20v combi 150hp version.

W 394 YJE

I did some googling the Octys were listed as compatible started at the 2001 vrs and 1.9 diesels and newer.... Perhaps my car is slightly too old?

Or required a different scanner dongle thingy.

Which dongle thing did you buy?

According to the spec its compatible with all post 1996 petrol vehicles, so should work with your 2000.

Its getting power etc if its connecting to Torque Pro, so it may be a setting on there?

Try ticking this box in the settings on Torque App

Thank you. I will go and have a closer look at the Torque settings and see if that sorts it out.
