Mirror folding and window opening problems

Featured Replies

Hi, Not been here for quite a while. We have had our Yeti coming up to 4 years now and still loving it. Recently something weird happened with the mirrors/driver's window. When locking, a long press instead of folding the mirrors caused the driver's door window to open!! At the same time the driver's window would not go up in one movement but just a bit at a time and when  it got to the top it started down again.

I reset to Factory settings on the MFD menu, this made no difference, tried this a couple of times also resetting the options to unlock all doors, still not fixed. I then, and am not sure if this was the answer, found an item in the handbook requiring the window to be closed, wait a few secs then pull the window close switch up and hold for a sec. This stopped the window going up and down and now everything works normally including the mirrors folding!!!

Any ideas why this should have happened in the first place? Is there a quicker way of sorting it out if it does?

Find what window has lost the "One touch Operation", close it and release switch. then hold up the switch again for about 5 seconds and your window and mirrors fold from fob will be restored.

That is what I eventually did by trial and error, so if it happens again I know what to do first, thanks. Still would like to know what causes the problem in the first place?

This "problem" has been there since the Yeti was introduced, and affects other Skoda and VAG models and no-one knows why it does it.
Just accept that it might happen to you and there is a simple "cure".
Funnily enough in all the years I've had a Yeti it has never happened to me!

Its the window pressure cutout to stop a hand or fingers being crushed.
How long did it take to do the reset, about 30 seconds?
How could it be much quicker?

Thanks everyone, at least I now know how to fix it quickly if it happens again and that is a random event of unknown origin< so nothing that we did wrong.

Low battery voltage, disconnecting the battery or dirt in the runners could cause the motor to lose the settings

As does opening the windows or folding the mirrors when ice or frost impedes their free movement.

It's happened a small number of times on each of the two Yetis I've owned in the last nine years and counting.  After the first time, I decided it wasn't worth trying to work out which window was misbehaving, I just reset all four one after the other.  Obviously, if one particular window was clearly acting up then that would be the first one to do but the last time it happened, back in the summer, all that I noticed was that the mirrors weren't folding when I locked the car and held the button on the remote down.  I reset all four windows and everything was fixed and working again inside a couple of minutes.

I held the unlock button down on the fob to open all the windows, the window that didn't open needed resetting. I have all the windows set to open via the Maxidot menu.

Apologies for resurrection of an old thread.

Here again to benefit from the font of Skoda knowledge found on this fab forum.

Idiot question class 101:

Is it possible either through Maxidot or VCDS to set the door mirros to fold automatically upon locking (ie: to link the two functions) without having to resort to the longer (or second when remotely closing windows) press-hold of the key fob?

Cheers.

As far as I know all PQ35 based cars (Yeti and MK2 Octavia/Superb etc) can't do this :(

You'll need a newer MQB based car (MK3 Octavia/Superb etc).
