Transmision loss on tdi

Featured Replies

I am going on a dyno tomorrow and because it only measures wheel horse power i want to know what is the transmision loss so i could calculate hp at the flywheel.

First i'm going on a generic remap which should give me about 30 hp on my pd100 so how many whp should i expect on dyno?

If it makes any more than 105whp, be happy

i was told to take the whp and +10 then devide by 0.9 and that gives you your fwhp. if that helps. so other way round would be fwhp times by 0.9 - 10 gives whp. (not exact but close enough)

When I went to Awesome recently with my TDi 100 (with a dragon on), they quoted me 126bhp at the fly and 114whp. A LOT of people reckon that the transmission loss they gave is inaccurate. At the end of the day, it's whp that counts anyway.

126 isn't bad Rob... we all guessed you were running about 130 bhp , so quite accurate! :thumbup:

At awesome i had 189 at the wheels and 203 at the fly, with a sick turbo too ;-)

@Micky32 - yeah but you've started off with a PD130 & you've got a nice FMIC + turbo :D

It should be a lot better since i fitted the new turbo, it drives a lot better, need to get her on a RR again.

Did you get yours remapped since you fitted your hybrid? Any figures?

Been to remap and dyno and it put out 108 whp. bit dissapointed :( But it really drives much better i really thought it would be better on dyno.

wouldn't be too dissapointed.....my fabia vrs only produced 110whp and that had a anouloge tuning box on it!:eek:

I've had mixed ATW and FLY hp figures. Only thing I seem to get reliable readouts on is the torque which has never varied from between 350 & 360 lb/ft at the flywheel. ATW has varied from 184 to 203, and FLY hp has varied from 216 to 223 recently. :rolleyes:

For what? WHP or any other kind is irrelevant. Its the area under the graph thats important

Here's the dyno graph. It was pretty lousy dyno(only one in the whole country) didnt even get rpms cause they didnt know where to plug it in.
