Drivers Side Door Micro Switch (accidental self locking)

Featured Replies

Hi All ,

I have the dreaded self locking issue on my 2008 4x4 Wagon . I believe its the door micro switch going by previous peoples posts on it etc as the courtesy light does not come on nor does the dash display show an open door (yet does on all other doors).
When i converted my car from a BMM 8v engine to a BKD 16v engine i had the luxury of having the whole front cut of the 2007 VW Golf to ensure i had everything to do the engine conversion. This included the front doors , so is the door lock mechanism the same in the 2007 mk5 golf and 2008 mk2 octavia ?
Thought it would be easier to ask than tear the skoda apart and have it in pieces again re down time as the panel to access it all appears to be riveted to the door.

thanks in advance .

I have the same issue so following this post closely

I removed the Door Lock assembly from the 2007 mk5 Golf , visually its the same as the Skoda but i'm yet to remove the one on my car for comparison .

Ok so the VW Golf one seems to work . Just need to reassemble it all assuming the bolt holes are def in the same place..... HAHA

The car no longer self locks if i lock the lock with screwdriver then use remote to lock and then unlock, it remains unlocked if i "open" the door.

Hi. Thanks for the pics so far! So this was the Golf or the Octavia?  I guess it is exactly the same?

Looks like a real ball-ache!  Is there any other way to replace the micro switches without removing everything?

I might just learn to live with having to open the rear door everytime I want to open the boot.

I took it out of the spares golf to fit in the octavia. And no you have to totally disassemble the door of the octavia to replace the whole lock mechanism no other way around it, but on the golf the outer door skin unbolts from the door the skoda no.
The drilling all the rivets out was the worst part, i might use sheet metal screws for assembly just in case i end up in there again.

At least in my case it was a free fix as i had the $100 part already.
