Autolock going mad

Featured Replies

Hi guys, i need your help again please.

Normally whenever i turned the car on and drove off, the car locked the doors automatically after passing a certain speed.

Now when i do the same, it locks then unlocks then locks then unlocks (i'm doing 40mph by now) and it stays like that until i come to a stop. I take off then the locking fest repeats.

However, if i start the car, press the little key button near the gear knob to lock, then it will stay like that with no issues.

On the dash there are no errors, the doors are all closed, the doors and the boot locks when i press the key button. There's nothing wrong with it.

All this happened when the battery died the other day, i left the lights on while it was in the garage, i was changing a number plate bulb, then i went in the house to pick something up and forgot to go back and lock the car or turn off the lights. I charged the battery and it starts with no hesitations. But then it's doing this.

Any ideas?

i think i worked it out. Something to do with the ignition barrel.

The doors also unlock when you take the key out the ignition. I do remember trying to start the car a few times but the battery was too low. So i think the process of keep trying the ignition on and off screwed it.
