I've had long discussions in the past on this subject with a couple of mates.

I think in the end we decided that if it wasn't an Audi it would definitely be a girl's car, but the badge just about allows men to drive one.

Having said that, if I knew a bloke that had one, I would have to ask if he could fit me in for a perm everytime I spoke to him

Well personally I can't wait until there are second hand ones available sub £20k.

I take your point about the Focus front end though, a lot of people are saying that.

Hopefully it'll be better to drive, more reliable and faster than the current TT!

because the old TT is so crap to drive and so slow ? Can't argue on the reliability though, it's not the best.

It will be better to drive (Golf Mk V chassis rather than Mk IV), particularly in terms of sharper handling, it should be more reliable (although I guess a few teething problems are to be expected) and on paper it does appear to be marginally faster - but no quattro on the 2.0T FSI - surely that's the USP in this sector ?
