Emissions Warning Symbol & Code PO102

Featured Replies

Hi All,

First off many thanks in advance as i'm new on here and also a Skoda tech novice, so any advice greatfully received.

A couple of months ago with no warning & no obvious loss in performance i had the emissions warning symbol & alert appear.

I took the car to my local garage who are always very helpful for diagnostics of the code (pls see attached pic).

The code was PO102 which refers to a low signal present from the MAF sensor to the ECU.

The garage swapped the sensor with a donor part they had on site which made no difference, i think they also tested my original sensor with a multi meter and it was ok.

They are not a specialist auto electricians and their conclusion was a wiring or ECU fault, i think they also reset power to the ECU with no change to the fault symbol.

They reckoned the ECU would use a default with no signal from the MAF present.

They also told me the emissions were still ok and this year of car (2006) will still an pass an MOT with the warning symbol showing and i could still drive the car with no issues.

I have made several local journeys and the performance seems fine as i'm concerned the car may go into 'limp mode' etc.

Yesterday i made shortish motorway journey with no obvious issues.

So to conclude, given the age of the car i wonder what my options are for peace of mind vs costs of further investigations.

Are there any risks of damaging the engine or loss of performance with this fault and any ideas what the issue might be.

My local garage has given me the details of an auto electrician, but so far iv'e held off.

Any advice or recommendations for a  skoda auto electrician will be really appreciated (i'm based in London SE5)

The car is a 2006  Octavia 1.9 TDI L&K Estate

Many Thanks.

Marc
