Alternative seats for Octavia.

Featured Replies

For anyone wanting to upgrade their seats, I thought this would be of interest (I'm not thinking of changing mine).

I had a ride in a Leon FR last night and the seats really were very good. Much better than the Octavia VRS /Elegance ones and they have side air bags too. They have black bolsters and the centre part is black with silver dots.

I reckon they'd work well in an Elegance and you wouldnt even need to change the door cards.

The car comes in 5 door only so you dont have to worry about folding front seats in an Octavia (like you would have with 3dr Golf seats)

Do you mean Leon FR? Ibiza seats into a Octavia wouldn't be an easy job.

 Yes, I mean a Leon.

Thanks, Eddy - original post changed.

Yep, after a few months of looking at the various VAG seats I agree; the FR and Cupra ones from the Leon will look good and should be relatively easy to fit. In terms of matching the interior on the Elegance, the A3 Sport seats are also spot on.

Last weekend I put in an immaculate Recaro interior from a MK4 Golf GTi - they are spot on and installation took just over a day for the fronts and back. In terms of how they hold you - they are like night and day compared to the standard ones - probably the best seats Ive ever fitted in fact!:D

Just over a day! It's a 2 hour job.

I had to rewire the connectors (did it properly ie soldering and heatwrap) and took the opportunity to run some better ICE related cabling too otherwise yes, it may well have been a few hours work.

Wasn't critising by the way, just didn't want people being put off what is a very easy and worthwhile mod.

So you saying you get knakcered FR and take the front and rear seats and put them in an octy elegance?

Where would be a good place to look for these and also what wiring requires doing?

If you're fitting them into an Elegance (fitted with side airbags) it is a simple job of removing the old seats (and removing subframes, depending what you've bought from the FR) and fitting the new ones. Seatbelt and airbag looms are easily connected.

Not sure if the FR seats are heated though, if your Elegance has heated seats then you will need to find heated FR seats (if they exist).

www.seatcupra.net would be a good place to start your search. They'll be cheaper than leather seats but not THAT cheap. I would expect to pay £500+ for a complete set.

The door cards in the dark cloth trimmed Elegance shold be a good match for the seats.

Yep mine is dark grey trimmed and non heated :)

Might have a nosey around, although will try a breakers since I paid only £25 each for a front seat and £40 for the rears for an old car of mine

i have just fitted the black/dark grey cloth seats froma mk4 golf gti and they match very well and hold lots lots better. very confortable too :D

even with re-wiring the side airbags (as the seller had kindly cut the plugs off  )and changing the drivers side buckle assembly(as the new seats didn't have the seat belt warning light) it only took about 2 hours :D

only paid £200 including postage from middlebrough to oxford

bargain :)

Why would that be a worry?

mine is a 3 door interior and has nothing but plus points :D

but i think phil might be saying that you can't lose with fitting seats into the octavia as they are all 5 door so you can't buy an incomtapable set of seats :)

Yep. That is correct.

There's a set of leon cupra seats on ebay for £195 BIN. Not as good as recaros but not bad for the money.

I found the ordinary Cupra seats (in an early model) werent as good as the FR items.
