Bluetooth Question

Featured Replies

Afternoon All,

Having an issue with Bluetooth. Every now and again when starting up the car, my Samsung phone will not register / display on the info screen and remains like this for however long I'm driving. Having switched off and returned back to the car after a while all is well again.

When this happens it is not possible to select Bluetooth from the Menu (Bluetooth caption is not highlighted and cannot be selected) and when selecting 'PHONE' I get a message saying 'PHONE NOT AVAILABLE'. Sometimes it will happen a couple of times over a few days and then be OK for about a week / ten days before reoccurring.

I'm going to ring the dealers next week as I have a problem with cracks in all tyres I need to get sorted (not good after 9K Miles) but thought I would ask on here in-case this is common and can sort it myself. Strangely this happens with two different Samsung phones, an A5 (2017) and an A40 (I know the A5 is OK but not sure if the A40 is suppose to be compatible but seems to work fine 80% of the time). I've done a search but nothing related comes up.

Many thanks,

Chris

Have you checked your mobile phone model numbers on Skoda's compatibility checker?

My Samsung J6 suffers occasional glitches when connected to most cars, including hire cars so I've put it down to the phone / Android Auto.

I have/had the very same issue, the Bluetooth was initially fine no issues when I first got the car but after a month or so the Bluetooth would randomly be "unavailable” when I started the car and the infotainment screen would tell me to turn on Bluetooth, but it was greyed out and unavailable.

I found that if you reset the infotainment screen by holding down the on/off control for 10 seconds the system would restart and the Bluetooth would be on, not ideal but it gets you access to your phone while in the car. This would sometimes last a couple of days, other times just one short journey. It was really doing my head in!!!!

I have not had any issues now for probably a month the only thing that's changed is I'm using the car more (as I did when I first got it), so I wonder if it's connected to battery charge?

P.S. it's not the phone, the car is turning off its Bluetooth, it was doing this same thing when I got in the car without my mobile on me.

Thanks for the replies. The A5 is on the compatibility listing but the A40 is not. However it's the same issue with both. Both work 80% of the time. I'm going to speak to the dealer about my tyres next week so I'll mention it then.

All the best,

Chris

I have had exactly the same issue. I did make a video and sent to Skodas dealer. After one week they decided to repleace all audio/navi/BT stuff. Now it is working correctly.

When the car is turning off the BT, navi and Android auto do not work as well.

Hopefully sorted.

Had the car into Simpsons Preston last week. Ended up changing the Multi Media Unit.

So far so good! 🙂
