Leaking injector seals

Featured Replies

Hi, Discovered a smell of diesel coming from my 2013 Fabia diesel recently. Took it to my local garage and was told its coming from the injector seals. I rushed home to check my NOX Campaign warranty -discovered it had expired two days after the initial date I took it to the garage!. The fine print of the warranty reads "customer makes a complaint to an Authorized Repairer (does this include my local garage??) or to the VW Group.  "

Does anyone out there know how I can persuade Skoda to honor this or if not how to fix the problem please??

Thanks

Normac

If your local garage is a non-franchised garage then it will almost certainly not be authorised. If it was your local Skoda dealer, then yes. I believe some Skoda's (And Vw's) Had a funny-snapped injector, sort of square with curved edges or something. My local-isn non-franchised Skoda specialist told me they were kind of bound to fail sooner or later as the engine vibrations, etc made the injectors suffer from unintended movement which eventually led to the seals failing. A proper circle may have prevented this, if you see what I mean.

I am not sure exactly how/why or when this idea was adopted and if its an industry-wide idea or a suck it and see approach and if it is still in use but it was basically a flaw.

That said, it might be deemed to be the working life of said parts anyway. (Nothing lasts forever, after-all)!

As you said recently, even IF Skoda were approached, the sooner the better as the longer you leave it, the mor likely you will be told not to let the door hit you on the ass, on the way out!

If you had a receipt from the mechanic/garage for their evaluation, dating and stating the issue, that could only help and Skoda MAY just allow some form of discount for any work THEY undertake, to replace the seals. That said, they will almost certainly be more expensive then the local guy or a good independent VW/Skoda workshop. The difference may be a two year warranty on any parts they fit.

Your post omits the exact model and your location so generally, th more details you list, the more help you may get back.

Best of luck!

Hello Mrgf, Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. As I suspected and as you suggest Skoda tell me it's not there problem as my local garage isn't  VW authorized.

I'm taking it to another non franchised specialist tomorrow where I hope to have better luck getting it fixed without the need for injectors. They suggested it would likely be seals or hoses and I believe there is a copper washer on the bottom of the injector that can fail.

Thanks again for your reply.
