Citigo not starting

Featured Replies

Good afternoon Briskodians, having a bit of trouble with my sons Citigo, it went in for a timing belt last Friday, the garage damaged a coil pack which was removed presumably to check TDC or something like that. This was replaced with a new coil pack. Car started ok, used Friday then parked up for a few days. It was started briefly to move closer to the house on Sunday. When my son went to use it yesterday, engine turning over but not starting. Garage due to come out to take a look but not arrived yet, thought I would post here in case anyone may have had a similar experience. (I've searched without finding anything so far). The battery seems to turn over ok although measured just below 12v. Also tried to jump start to give more power but that didn't help. Any help/ guidance would be great.

Hopefully this post is in the right place, does anyone have any ideas? I charged the battery last night but this hasn't made any difference,

Sorry no, if not a lose battery terminal, or duff battery.

?

Why have the garage that messed up on Friday not been out to recover the car and check their workman / womanship?

Something very strange is going on, the garaged promised to take a look, due to come yesterday but didnt turn up, the car would turn over but I took the battery off and charged it anyway, terminals tight, all ok, this didnt make any difference, the mechanic came 30 mins ago, it wouldnt start at first, just as when I tried several times over the past few days, then on the 2nd attempt it started and was back to normal. I turned off & on again, took it for a drive, tested the stop start and all seems back to normal. Will need to monitor over the next few days to see what happens.

One other point is that when the key is released from the point where the engine turns over, the starter motor continues to run on - does anyone know if this is supposed to happen?, (I read this happened to someone in another post  but not sure if normal?)

I do not think the starter should run on, mine certainly does not. You would have been better posting this in the main query part of the Citigo forum as people generally only go on the guide part when looking for info on how to do something.
