Not any bong sound when low battery

Featured Replies

Hello ,

have noticed last years when battery dropped a lot to critical  points  (for any various reason)  , it used to sound some warning bongs and a relevant message to the Swing device  ( last years Columbus).

I.e yesterday the video was playing for over an hour with ignition off  and drained batery.

Does this have to do as battery not coded to the system and thus it does not be seen by system?

I have replaced once battery  5 years ago.

Not sure if my specs have the abillity to code batteries..

Mk2 octavia doesn't have a battery monitoring system like the audis etc so batteries do not require coding in.

Perhaps it depends on the rate of voltage decline. When I was listening to the radio for too long (you have to switch the radio again every 60 minutes), I got the bong followed by a recording through the speakers telling me to start the engine to recharge the battery.

Only the special deep discharge batteries used with stop-start systems need to be coded into the system.

I have edited the above message as I now remember that the restart message was through the central message display, not the speakers.

After some research, according to R-T it seems there is a subsystem in the 19 CAN getaway to do bat coding (for cars which not have the 61 battery module separately).

The stop-start equipped cars should have this module.

I'll have it a look at next time connecting the VCDS to see if applicable.

But not see where is this really useful...

As for the warning bongs, I had at the time a 220to12v charger connecting.

The voltage was 11,5 while the battery's load was lower than 30%.

So I assume not perquisites applied for expecting to hear the warnings?
