Dashboard Issues

Featured Replies

Hi everybody

2002 Fabia 1.4 petrol

For some while, I have had an issue with an erratic fuel gauge, which I can live with. Over the years, I have also had random warning lights flicker on/off, or as in the case of the power steering light which is on constantly, at varying levels of brightness.

I have noticed another post where a member has reported similar issue with the warning light and consensus seems to be that this is down to damp..?

My car has little use, and sits in a garage that is rather damp....

To add to this, I have now noticed that the dashboard has failed almost completely. Fuel and temperature gauge not working, also the speedo and rev counter are 'dead'. When i use the indicators/hazard warning, there is no 'clicking' noise , but when I use the headlights, the symbol does light up on the dashboard.

Help/advice appreciated

Thank you,

Tom

Fix the garage roof so it can dry out then use a dehumidifier to pull all the damp out of the garage and the car.

One further thing to ask,  I charged the battery before all  this happened.

Is there a right way and a wrong way to reconnect  the battery.............?

Could I have blown a fuse if I disconnected/reconnected in the wrong order

No, it doesn't matter.
