I am considering having a reverse camera fitted my 2017 Superb.

If I purchase the camera from Skoda does this mean that I will traffic alert or is this done from the rear sensors?

If not should I purchase a bog standard camera online or go down the Skoda route?

Whats the difference between the two other than price?

I have a very able person to fit the camera for me, I just need to know the right camera to buy.

Update

I have now found (rear traffic assist) in settings but it was not ticked.

Does this mean that when I reverse the car it will stop if traffic is approaching or will it just give me a warning.

I have no drivers manual its supposed to arrive within the next few days.

All help appritiated.

I understood that the rear traffic alert uses the blind spot radar on the rear corners to detect approaching vehicles.

 

It jams the brakes on, like you are doing an emergency stop.

From experience, it scares the bejesus out of you if you start backing out and something (anything) crosses those spots...the Mrs has a habit of thinking she's stood out of the way...but she isn't

Rear traffuc assist has nothing connected to the rear view camera. It is completely different system, based on corner radars, under the rear bumper. This was standard for L&K in 2016, where RVC was not. Even without camera it works well. The retrofit of both RVC and RTA is not so difficult, however, the mirrors glasses are rather expensive.

All sorted, I have it and I have tested it, it works fine, I now need to know the most cost effective/best camera to fit?
