Torque Pro vs Carista - Worth it?

Featured Replies

I used to use Torque Pro allot to check for faults and work out issues. I have noticed its not as detailed as it once was and does not pull fault codes down any more. I have installed Carista on my device do you think its worth the money?

I'm still in the cheapo dark ages

I use torque pro for engine fault codes. It still works for me? Obviously it won't do the specific proprietary sub systems but it never would have?

Carista is good for activating optional features and this is its main selling point.

However, you can do a full diagnostics check and print out the results by email (I use a wifi diagnostics reader).

I have had only a couple or so of faults on my car in nearly five years, non of them major or engine related, but the app gave me the fault code, failed part and part number. The last was a faulty driver's door lock.

I run a full diagnostics check about three times year and keep the print out. One interesting thing is it gives you the ecu long code. You can see which bit(s) change as you enable features.

It has also told me that the radio is connected to can-bus in single wire mode. Not a functional problem so far but I guess could be so in future.

I wonder why Torque Pro works for you and not me? Carista works for me (free version) using the same ODO Bluetooth reader so I know the reader works

Carista are promoting themselves heavily at the moment, which might suggest they've invested, and / or are continuing to invest, so my money would go Carista's way.

Much more user friendly too.

Not sure: is the app and device os up to date.

are you sure you have fault codes to download..?

what exactly does it say when you run the scan?

Yep all up to date

Yes - I just use to have to press the fault codes button and off it would go do I need to set this up?

It just says no fault codes found - I know my ODO Bluetooth works as it works with Carista. I have now subscribed to Carista and I have to say its very good!!!!

The fault code check button is what I use. It then runs the interrogation scan which takes a while.

Then reports either no faults or reports the fault code log, which you can save b4 clearing.
