Main beam works for 4-5 minutes goes off.

Wait 2 mins as will not work then turn back on works for 20 seconds goes off again.

When the main beam goes off I switch back to dip and these work.

These are projector headlights so use the same bulb as dip.

So not bulbs

Not fuses as they work.

Have ruled out stalk as they do switch. More of a time event

 

When this happens you can still hear the Projector flaps still working

 

This sounds like you are saying the bulbs turn off or the illuminations stops... Is this correct?  The bulbs sort of turn off after a short while on full or main beam but will work ok on dipped?  

I think the same bulb system might have been superseded at some point in manufacture as I have this set up on an (09) Model but later versions had an uprated set of lights up front, with the projector globe being to the outside edge of the unit, nearer to the wing, whereas mine are towards the inner edge, closer to the grille. 

 

If you DO have the same, it sounds like either a wiring issue, relay issue or perhaps some sort of control module as I cannot think why the same bulb filament, giving the same output of light, can fail to work just as it has a screen raised and lowered in front of it, which is basically, what this system does.

I know there is an issue, you have just listed all of them. I need to know if anyone has had the same problem and got it fixed and what it was.
