DSG failure

It’s madness that they are still churning out the DQ200 in new cars across the various brands.

Surely they must have subtly ‘improved’ the unit??

I guess the same box is now in the Kamiq just released?

Pretty sure it is the same basic DQ200 box but undoubtedly there will have been a series of improvement and modifications over it’s lifetime. I started with a 2012 1.2 DSG Yeti and changed to a new 1.2 DSG Yeti in 2017 - last of the Yeti production models - and most certainly the DSG box on my later Yeti is far, far better than on the 2012 model. Smoother and much better for slow speed manoeuvring as well as generally being in the right gear when entering roundabouts etc. where you are off/on the accelerator.

They did change things, after all there was a World Wide Recall in 2012. Service Campaign in Europe.

Then the changed DQ200 required a Service Campaign on some from some plants 2013-2015.  That happened to be a plant in CZ.

One building 2,200 a day.

Then from 2015 there is the Slipping Clutch issue.  then the DQ200 with 1.5TSI, small number issue, Loss of Drive.

Now another Recall in Australia.      They know what they are doing.  Stretching out the DQ200 as they had no alternative.  Now there is the DQ200-e for use with the Hybrids with small engines.

VW Group are always in denial. It is the default position in Europe.  Globally they get exposed quicker.

Just after that Autocar article.  (Lord Michael Heseltine owned Haymarket Media Group owners of Autocar / What Car. VW are a customer of them. Haymarket doing car launches etc & advertising. He brokered the purchase of Bentley by VW Group.)

VW in Europe called a  Service Campaign.  '34F7' with the DVLA providing registered keepers contact details, but many 'owners' were missed out.

Autocar never bothered with an update.

Skoda started the Service Campaign in 2014 to change the oil from Synthetic to Mineral and a software update.  There are cars that still never had this done.

(Then in 2017 another Software Update called.  Some are now just finding out about that one as Registered Keepers never were told.)

Ford had to eventually admit to the failings of their Dual Clutch Gearboxes only recently.

Years of failures.

The similar design gearbox in my sons then 3yr old Ford Focus car had to have the clutch pack changed under warranty just after he bought it as it was slipping as it went into 2nd gear from 1st when accelerating hard at 23k miles. It is starting to show the same symptoms again, now at 46k miles.
