1.2 TSI Cambelt/Timing chain

Featured Replies

Hi, I recently purchased a 2011 Fabia and earlier today when I was changing the front grille, I noticed that on the driver side of the engine it had what appeared to be cam belts, this means my car has had the upgrade to the cam belts from the timing chains, which were known to have faults, right? Sorry if this is obvious I'm new to cars. Thanks

Ancillary drive belt for alternator etc

The belts you have seen are probably the anciliary ones. At 2011 the 1.2tsi will have the 8 valve EA111 cam chain engine(oil filter at high level over alternator) , the later totally different 16 valve EA211 cam belt engine(oil filter down below) was introduced in this car late in 2015 I think.  There is no cam belt upgrade.
