My old man’s yeti had the dpf light up along the with the eml light and flashing coil, i ran a scan with obdeleven and came up with the details below.

 

is it too late to take he’s motor to a garage for a forced regen?

 

i think i read somewhere that once the dpf is passed 95% full you need to replace it.

 

any help is appreciated.

It's hard to know for certain without some engine code details but 33g is below the 40g/45g limits for a regen drive or service regen. What the calculated soot mass?

 

However, the oil ash being 71g is quite high, I think the limit is 80g so it may benefit from being removed and cleaned or replaced.

 

Any fault codes?

Yes there was fault code P2458, regeneration duration or something like that it said.

 

He has a 1.6Tdi cayc engine 2011 model on 145k miles.

Check both measured and calculated soot levels and assuming they are both below 45g, clear all fault codes which will hopefully just leave the DPF light on. Then perform an emergency regen: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Diesel_Particle_Filter_Emergency_Regeneration

 

If either are above 45g, it can no longer be safely regenerated so you'll need to remove it for cleaning or replacement.

 

Based on 71g of oil ash in 145k and assuming the max is 80g, the DPF may only last another 15-18k before it's full...
