Yeti boot variofloor

Featured Replies

Isn’t there a bracket beneath the (non electric ) drivers seat for holding the green safety jacket,I remember removing mine to fit the storage compartment which held the jacket and more beneath both seats.

Thanks, nothing to lose other than a big chunk of money, if I did nothing I would lose what little vision remains in the eye very soon, if this works, and its the last chance saloon, then it will maintain the vision that remains.

Yes my car has the bracket, a sort of open pigeon hole, dont think I can fit a storage box because there is a Bluetooth Module there, the only extra that was specified on my poverty spec vehicle so I knew that it was a fleet vehicle.

The one on the Octavia (passenger side) was usefull but I did not know it was there for ages.

Photos as promised.

Its an inch or so higher than the stock one from looking at the other photos, hinged at the front and has the fabric hinge on the top not bottom so opens in a different way. The seats have to be tilted forwards for the opened section to go into the slot for the Octavia but as can be seen from the first photo it stands up on its own. The gap closing flap is hinged from the variofloor.

If I did it again I would not hinge the floor, I would cut it back a further 20mm and raise the front bulkhead up flush with the top edge, it would stay in place and could be lifted out for taller luggage but would be a potential hazard in a roll over so I would use the Octavia Dzus fixings.

A very satisfying and cheap conversion as there are loads of MK1's in the breakers, mostly estates with variofloors and being so old there are very few takers for them, they are the exact width and correct rear profile for the Yeti, they simply need cutting down together with the side rails and some 6mm ply side extensions made which can just be seen in photo 3

As can be seen from the last photo the visible side of the bulkhead and gap closing flap I finished in a textured black to match the carpet & trim, there is precisely enough space to get your hand down behind the seat to release the tilt mechanism and the parcel shelf still can be slid down behind the seats.

Hope all goes well J.R.

An update, it didn't have a good outcome and I am currently completely blind in the eye, another consultation tomorrow may reveal if there could be any recovery.

I got the job finished before the surgery knowing I had to take things very easily afterwards, its taken till now getting back in the saddle before taking the photographs.

Im very sorry to hear about your loss of vision in one of your eyes and hopefully something can be done to recover some sight for you in that eye.

Thanks very much for the information and photos you have added in this post.

It will be of great help to me as my Yeti does not have the false floor ( yet ) and I also carry a spare wheel ( old school ) and believe it or not, I was taking measurements this afternoon and pondering the best way to do it, and you have solved my problem.

Good luck with your eyes, I hope you have a satisfactory outcome

All the best

Thanks and I hope you do well and enjoy adapting a variofloor, I am just squeezing all my junk in mine now, I have a spacesaver wheel but it will go on top because under the floor it leaves little usable space around and above it.

I cannot believe how heavy the wheel & tyre is, the metal guage and rubber thckness is like something off of a fork lift truck.

some vision is returning in the eye, the French eye surgeon says its a miracle and she did not expect it, I have gone from clinically blind to legally blind which is actually a big step in the right direction, I can now see a distorted and blurry image of the first letter of the eyechart, in France it takes up the whole size of the chart, of course knowing that its an E helps a lot 🤣

That's great news JR.  Hope things continue to improve for you 🤞

Good news about your eye.

It sounds like you have been very fortunate in regaining some vision in your bad eye, I hope things improve even more for you.

Good Luck
