Electrical fault/ignition dropping out?

Featured Replies

Hi I own a 2007 octavia vrs estate. This week at two separate ramdom times the engine has cut out. When this happens I have no ignition lights. But headlights, indicaters, all seem to work fine. Both times after a couple of minutes the dash springs back to life and all is fine. Has anybody had this fault? Or know if the range has a problem with the on board power supply unit?  Cheers for any help.

I'd thoroughly check electrical ground points. Especially, from my memory,  around the main fuse box in engine bay.

You may need to undo ground straps to check for corrosion and if present clean up.

Thanks for the reply. Car broke down yesterday and wouldn't start. Managed to have look round and found a faulty relay. Swapped with rear wiper and washer relay. Car is running again. Going to get new relay tomorrow.

Oh, that's good result.  I wasn't really thinking relay, but at least tge suggestiin inadvertently pointed you to the right area....!
