Engine cleaning

Featured Replies

My petrol engine is looking a tad dusty and could do with a clean, do I give the full tsunami treatment with the pressure washer or use cotton buds and no liquid? 🤔

I’m thinking somewhere in between , anybody got any advice ? 🙂

I've always been in the never pressure wash an engine bay camp. Yes connectors and such are supposed to be waterproofed but I doubt they had pressurised water in mind.

I gave my st an going over with baby wipes and it came up rather well.

Baby wipes! Never thought of that, not quite “korma colour “ yet but I could see how that would work. 🤔

May give that a try, thanks very much. 👍

I just use microfibre cloths with a mild detergent on. For crevices use a paint brush or similar and soapy water.

How do rinse it off?

I just wipe it off with another damp cloth. Most of the plastics that cover most bits are all removable anyway if you wanted to go to town with it

You could always just put some water in a spray bottle if you needed to
