Karoq "drumming" noise

Featured Replies

I have a brand new Karoq and have a bad "drumming" (resonance) noise on the car. It is apparent at low speeds on all but very smooth roads. It is very annoying and spoils a nice car.

What are the tyre pressures set at?

Just "standard" pressure as car brand new only done 200+ miles.

Standard as in the over inflated pressure that the car is transported to the dealer at, and not set correctly during PDI?

PDI report shows all tyres at 2.2 however I shall check tomorrow in daylight.

My tyres were all at 50psi when I picked mine up new from the dealer. I didn't know that at the time, I just assumed that as it was new the tyre pressures would be correct. When I did check them out of curiosity a few weeks later I couldn't believe how over inflated they were!

Thank you will check my pressures in the morning

just in case - double check that the suspension transit blocks haven't been left in / missed on PDI, not unheard of!

1.0 engine?

A mild resonance at lower revs is typical on 3 cylinder engine

It might be worth looking at the 'Road Noise' thread started here by icebun 6 January see previous page.

It's brand new?  Do you have the SE-L or Edition by any chance?

Yes it is SE-L 1.5 petrol DSG

Just a hunch it may be the rear parcel shelf - might not be seated properly or the flap might be rubbing against the seats. ( because thats what happened to me ). Try removing the shelf altogether to see if noise still there.
